DIVING IN PASIKUDAH
Paskikudah, Sri Lanka’s current coastal capital and best-loved beach stretch, joining many others in the area. Pasikudah Bay itself extends for upto 2km, and is home to a vibrant array of tropical flora and fauna, particularly fish. Visiting Pasikudah is best recommended from May- September, as the water is calm and clear, though May-June is ideal for diving in particular. The spectacular curved bay is also known for having one of the longest stretches of shallow coastline globally, allowing you to wade for upto 0.5 kilometres into the ocean. The shallow depth and comparatively weak current makes this a safe and undoubtedly uniquely memorable experience altogether.
Aside from lazy days on the beach, snorkelling and whale watching expeditions from Trincomalee harbour to name a few, guests can look forward to booking exotic diving trips in Pasikudah. Both beginners and more experienced divers can be accommodated, and the surrounding diving sites are especially suited for beginners as they are shallow and therefore safe for introductory diving. Explore intriguing and haunting wrecks including the WWII tanker British Sergeant and the aircraft carrier HMS Hermes amongst others, whilst studying their morbid yet captivating history. Follow up with a frolick in the coral reefs where vibrant fish life can be spotted, ranging from yellow striped goatfish, blue lined snappers and bigeye snappers and clownfish to name a few. All dives will be accompanied by professionals in the area, complete with reliable diving equipment and gear for assistance.
